“The true miracle is not walking on water or walking in air, but simply walking on this earth.” ― Thích Nhất Hạnh

Welcome to another relaxation resource. Today we will practice the walking meditation — a form of meditation in action.

In walking meditation the experience of walking is the focus. We become mindful of our experience while walking, and try to keep our awareness involved with the act of walking.

Why practice walking meditation, you ask? Because we spend so much of our daily lives in constant motion, or sitting inside at a desk for hours at a time. Also, being aware of walking gets us out of busyness mode and into the act of moving with intention. With walking meditation we become more focused around the synchronicity between our bodies, the environment and our breathing.

To get started you will want to practice in an area where you can walk undisturbed to avoid objects or people in your pathway. Click the arrow below to begin this audio recording.
